History: Ku Chang, local Lamphun people called Godfather Ku Chang. The sacred place contains the elephant remains. The majestic elephant of Queen Cham Thewi, the first Queen Regant of  Kingdom of Haripunchai called  Bpu Kum Ngaa Keo. According to the legend it was a very strong elephant. Whenever it fought war, when the elephant turned its tusks toward the enemy, causing the enemies resolve to weaken. Wherever the elephant’s  tusks point, a disaster would ensure. The elephant was characterized by a dark body color and green ivories. Later, when the elephant died, Queen Cham Thewi ordered to build a high Chedi top to protect the elephant body, with the tip of its ivories pointing to the sky. It is a chedi that looks cone shaped. The Chedi is built of brick which is high, but the top is not as pointed as other typical Chedis.

          Ku Maa is located at the back of Ku Chang. It is believed that the remains of the horse of the King Mahantayod who was Queen Cham Thewi’s son. The front of Ku Chang-Ku Maa is also a place for relaxation. For those who want to make a wish, it is the must place to visit. What is not to miss is to walk under the belly of the statue of the elephant (Bpu Kum Ngaa Keo). It is believed for blessing of victory and success, including studying, working and a positive life.
