History: Wat Phra Kong Ruesi, originally known as Wat Appat Tharam, was built during Queen Cham Thewi reign over the kingdom of Haripunchai. It was created to dedicate to the monks from Lungkawi. The place was used for residence and Buddhist practicing for monks. It is also the place that contains the amulet named Phra Khong (พระคง). It is one of the well known holy amulets in Lamphun and Wat Phra Kong is one of the four temples, at the four corners of the town where the amulets Phra Khong are found. It is believed that the amulet is related to Vesuthep Rusi and Sukkhanta Rusi, the hermits who built the temple, Therefore the name was called Wat Phra Kong Ruesi. For those who want go to pay homage for prosperity Wat Phra Kong Ruesi is located in Muang District, Lamphun Province. Local Lamphun people have a ceremony and worshiping and bathing of this Buddhist Chedi after Songkran every year.
