Background: According to the local people in Wiang Nong Long District and Ban Hong District of Lamphun Province have together constructed Wang Pan Weir, a native weir from leaving stone across the Ping river in area of Ban Tha Luk, Moo 4, Nong Long Subdistrict, Wiang Nong Long  District, Lamphun Province to store water, to supply water to water source of the cost for consumption because of a shortage of water during the dry season. But later damaged causing the Royal Irrigation Department by construction department of small irrigation project 1, sub-project construction division, improved  Wang Pan weir to be a concrete weir and improved on left side in some parts of water delivery main canal until it is reinforced concrete canal for increased irrigation efficiency.

Wang Pan Weir will help to irrigate and store water as a source of water of the cost for consumer sufficiently throughout the year. To solve the problem of water scramble that occurred for a long time, solve problem of flooding, make the village water supply and can also has a supply of electricity from hydropower, create stability and confidence in agricultural occupation which is the main occupation of the people therefore help reducing the problem of abandonment as well.
