History: Khaumung Thasing (ขัวมุงท่าสิงห์) according to historical evidence, there are many Khaumung (ขัวมุง) in the North of Thailand, often built near the temple or in the community. The word Khau in the northern Thai means bridge, assumably used for transportation between two main waterways. But today Khaumung Thasing has developed as a local market and a popular OTOP (One Tambon One Product) products.
Wiangyong Community, in addition to shopping for OTOP products, this is also a source of historical stories from the community. By the year 1805, during the end of the reign of King Rama I, Lamphun or Hariphunchai became a city, although not many people lived there. King Kavila who governed Chiang Mai City in that era, commanded Maha Uparacha Boontawong to move the troops and herded Yong people from the city which was the Shan state in Burma. In that time, the governor surrendered, the Yong people were sent back, scattered and moved down to Lamphun District, settled and lived there. Then they created cultures and traditions until they become Wiang Yong villagers, up until the present day.
